LAURENCE DONOVAN (1885-1948) was a prolific American author who wrote Detective and Western pulp fiction stories. His stories appeared in such magazines as Private Detective Stories, Popular Detective, Spicy Detective Stories, Gold Western Magazine, Wild West Weekly, and other pulp magazines which are too many to list here. As well as writing under his own name, he also wrote under such pseudonyms as Larry Dunn, Don Lawrence and Don Lewis. In addition, he wrote several Doc Savage novels under the house name of Kenneth Robeson, and some Phantom Detective novels under the house name of Robert Wallace. Laurence Donovan was a highly versatile writer, and a number of the detective stories written under his own name are included in the present volume. More will appear in subsequent compilations.
